Estimates are not quotes
Every figure our tools produce is an estimate based on the inputs you provide and modeled assumptions. Your real costs and savings depend on factors specific to your home, roof, utility tariff, equipment, financing, and personal tax situation. A binding price can only come from a written quote by a licensed installer.
No guarantee of accuracy
Electricity rates, equipment prices, incentives, and tax rules change frequently and vary by location. We work to keep our data current and cite our sources, but we make no warranty as to accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Verify any figure against primary sources before relying on it.
How our calculators work
Each tool explains its methodology on its own page. In general we combine your inputs with published, state-level reference data (electricity rates, solar production factors, incentive rules) and standard financial math (payback period, lifetime savings). Where a national average is used as a fallback, we say so.
Tax-rule note (2026)
Our solar tool reflects our understanding that the federal residential solar tax credit (IRC Section 25D) expired for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. Tax law is complex and individual; this is not tax advice. Confirm your eligibility with the IRS and a tax professional.
